Mount "RocceRè"

Mount Rocceré is located on the watershed between the Varaita Valley and the Maira Valley, on the border between Melle and Roccabruna. At its summit stands a metal cross. The surrounding area is known for numerous rock depressions once believed to be prehistoric cup marks. However, recent studies by the Italian Heritage Authority and the University of Genoa have revealed that these are actually gnammas — natural cavities caused by erosion typical of periglacial mountain zones, which differ in shape and origin from true cup marks.
